Auditions for the miscast musical revue, Showtune Shake-Up, will take place at the Racine Theatre Guild, Wednesday, July 20 from 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Shake up what you know about your favorite Broadway showtunes with a miscast cabaret experience you’d never expect! An adult woman singing “Tomorrow” from "Annie?" A young man belting out “When You’re Good to Mama” from "Chicago?" Performing roles in which singers might not traditionally be cast or putting new twists on well-known classics, anything can happen in this mixed-up, backwards, and flip-flopped musical revue.
PERFORMANCE DATE: Thursday, August 25
SOLOISTS
Director Robert Kroes is looking for a diverse group of 15 to 18 performers, ages 18 and above, for this cabaret. All performers would be performing as soloists and individuals of all experience levels and backgrounds are welcome to audition.
There will be three nights of rehearsals only: August 22, 23, and 24 with a performance Thursday, August 25 at 7:00pm. Performers will be required to attend a coaching with the director prior to the rehearsal process. Coachings will be scheduled based on director/performer availability.
Those auditioning should have two contrasting “miscast” selections prepared. They should be songs that the performer would want to sing for the concert itself. All songs should be performance ready and please only audition as a soloist (i.e. no small groups or duets). Those auditioning must bring in sheet music for both selections and an accompanist will be provided. No acapella or tracks allowed.
Those interested in auditioning MUST sign-up for a 10 minute time slot by calling (262) 633-4218 or emailing [email protected].
Singers will be required to be fully vaccinated to volunteer on productions. They will be asked to show proof of vaccination at auditions. Masks will be required to be worn when attending auditions and may only be removed while actively auditioning. Rehearsal protocols will be discussed at auditions.
