Every year, Bozar and Moussem invite you to experience the ritual music and dance of the Sufi traditions. This year, this evening honours two traditions, that of the Bauls of Bengal and Bangladesh and the ceremony of the Sema embodied by the dervishes of the Mevlevi Order of Konya in Turkey.
With her unique voice, gestures and personality, Parvathy Baul delights the ears and heart of the audience with the words of wisdom of traditional songs that have inspired such greats as Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Rabindranath Tagore (Nobel Prize in Literature 1913). Accompanied by talented instrumentalists, she presents songs from the Baul Pada Madhuri, an anthology of Sahajiya, Baul and Fakir traditions.
Since its foundation in 1990, the Konya Turkish Sufi Music Ensemble has been dedicated to keeping the traditions of the Mevlevi Sufi Order alive. This popular award-winning ensemble from the Turkish city of Konya immerses you in the Sema Ceremony, which is a quest for unity between humans, the cosmos and the divine through prayer, song, dance, swirling movements and the meditative trance of the whirling dervishes.

FR ― Chaque année, Bozar et Moussem vous invitent à expérimenter des musiques et danses rituelles des traditions soufies. Cette année, cette soirée met à l’honneur deux traditions : celle des Bauls du Bengal et du Bengladesh et la cérémonie du Sêma incarnée par les derviches de l’ordre Mevelvi de Konya en Turquie.
Avec sa voix, ses gestes et sa personnalité uniques, Parvathy Baul porte aux oreilles et au cœur du public les paroles de sagesse de chants traditionnels qui ont inspiré des grands noms comme Sri Rama Krishna Paramahamsa et Sri Rabindranth Tagore (Prix Nobel de littérature 1913). Accompagnée d’instrumentistes de talent, elle présente des chants issus du Baul Pada Madhuri, une anthologie des traditions Sahajia, Bauls et Fakirs.
Depuis sa fondation en 1990, le Konya Turkish Sufi Music Ensemble s’emploie à faire vivre les traditions de l’ordre soufi Mevlevi. Cet ensemble de la ville turque de Konya, plébiscité et récompensé par de nombreux prix, vous plonge dans la cérémonie du Sêma: une quête d’unité entre l’humain, le cosmos et le divin à travers la prière, le chant, la danse, les mouvements tourbillonnants et la transe méditative des derviches tourneurs.

NL ― Elk jaar nodigen Bozar en Moussem je uit om de rituele muziek en dans van de soefitradities te ervaren. Dit jaar staan twee tradities centraal: die van de Bauls van Bengalen en Bangladesh en de Sama-ceremonie door de derwisjen van de Mevlevi-orde van Konya in Turkije.
Met haar unieke stem, gebaren en persoonlijkheid plant Parvathy Baul de woorden van wijsheid van traditionele gezangen in de oren en harten van het publiek. Deze gezangen brachten al inspiratie voor grootheden als Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa en Sri Rabindranath Tagore (Nobelprijs voor de Literatuur 1913). Begeleid door getalenteerde instrumentalisten, brengt ze gezangen uit de Baul Pada Madhuri, een bloemlezing van Sahaja-, Baul- en Fakir-tradities.
Sinds zijn oprichting in 1990 zet het Konya Turkish Sufi Music Ensemble zich in om de tradities van de Mevlevi-soefiorde levend te houden. Dit populaire en veelvuldig bekroonde ensemble uit de Turkse stad Konya dompelt je onder in de Sama-ceremonie: een zoektocht naar eenheid tussen mens, kosmos en het goddelijke door middel van gebed, zang, dans en de wervelende bewegingen en meditatieve trance van de draaiende derwisjen.
