About this Event
This one-day symposium on Vertical Media will bring together international scholars in the fields of Communication & Media studies who are focused on the relationship between verticality, technology, and power. Canadian Communication and Media theory has long focused on horizontal media and networks such as railroads, fur trade routes, and highway and telephone networks. The Vertical Media symposium will explore the epistemological and logistical issues raised by discourses of verticality and their manifestation in the structures used to organize and circulate ideas and information.
