To list the songs Steve Cropper has written or played on is like a roll call of rock and roll history. Green Onions. In the Midnight Hour. (Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay. Knock on Wood. Last Night. The list goes on and on, as befits a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Steve Cropper is the legendary guitarist and songwriter who helped define the Stax soul sound through his work at the famed studio in the 1960s and 1970s with Booker T. and the MGs, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and dozens of other hitmakers.
Please join us we welcome this legendary guitarist and songwriter to the Memphis Music Listening Party. Host Robert Gordon will discuss Steve’s career through five songs, and it will most certainly be a tall order to narrow such a list to just five.
